Adjective of Quantity Definition

Adjective of Quantity expresses the quantity of a Noun. Like Whole, Some, Enough, Sufficient, No, Full, Entire, etc.
एडजेक्टिव आफ क्वांटिटी नाउन की परिमाण, मात्रा को व्यक्त करता है। जैसे Whole, Some, Enough, Sufficient, No, Full, Entire आदि।

Adjective of Quantity Words List

1. Use of Any

• Any – Any is used in the negative or interrogative sentences with both countable and Uncountable sentences. It is used to express quantity.
  Any मात्रा को व्यक्त करने के लिए नकारात्मक या प्रश्नवाचक वाक्यों में दोनों Countable और Uncountable वाक्यों के साथ किया जाता है। इसका उपयोग मात्रा को व्यक्त करने के लिए किया जाता है।

Examples

1. I don’t have any pen.
   मेरे पास कोई कलम नहीं है।
2. He hasn’t purchased any fruits.
   उसने कोई फल नहीं खरीदा है।
3. They dont have any chair.
   उनके पास कोई कुर्सी नहीं है।

Examples with Interrogative Sentences

1. Have you any novel?
   क्या आपके पास कोई उपन्यास है?
2. Did anyone came here?
   क्या कोई यहाँ आया था?

2. Use of some

• SOME – Some can be used in Affirmative sentences with both countable and uncountable. In Interrogative Sentence Some is used as a request or command.
  Some का प्रयोग सामान्यता Affirmative वाक्यों में काउंटेबल एवं अनकाउंटेबल दोनों के साथ किया जा सकता है। इंटेरोगेटिव सेंटेंस में Some का प्रयोग प्रार्थना या आदेश के रूप में किया जाता है।

Examples

1. I shall buy some books.
   मैं कुछ किताबें खरीदूंगा।
2. They have purchased some fruit.
   उन्होंने कुछ फल खरीदे हैं।

Examples with Interrogative Sentences

1. Will you give me some milk?
   क्या आप मुझे कुछ दूध देंगे?
2. Can you lend me some rupees?
   क्या आप मुझे कुछ रुपये उधार दे सकते हैं?

3. Use of Much

• MUCH – is used to express quantity. It is generally used with negative and interrogative sentences.
  मात्रा को व्यक्त करने के लिए much प्रयोग किया जाता है। यह आमतौर पर नकारात्मक और प्रश्नवाचक वाक्यों के साथ प्रयोग किया जाता है।

Examples

1. I haven’t much patience.
   मेरे पास ज्यादा धैर्य नहीं है।
2. He hasn’t much money.
   उसके पास ज्यादा पैसा नहीं है।

Examples with Interrogative Sentences

1. Have you much money?
   क्या आपके पास बहुत पैसा है?

4. Use of Few/ A Few/ The Few

FEW

• FEW – is used along with countable. Few have a negative meaning and it indicates a very small and negligible quantity of something or “hardly any”.
  Few का प्रयोग काउंटेबल के लिए किया जाता है। Few का अर्थ नकारात्मक नगणय (ना के बराबर) होता है।

Examples

1. Few people are fully happy.
   बहुत कम लोग पूरी तरह खुश होते हैं।
2. Few men are free from any disease.
   कुछ ही पुरुष किसी रोग से मुक्त होते हैं।
3. Few women can avoid talking.
   कुछ महिलाएं बात करने से बच सकती हैं।
4. Few women can keep secrets.
   कुछ महिलाएं रहस्य रख सकती हैं।

A FEW

• A few indicate a small quantity of something but “not many”.  ( थोड़ा सा)

Examples

1. A few people can write correct Grammar.
   कुछ ही व्यक्ति सही व्याकरण लिख सकते हैं।
2. He asked me a few questions.
   उन्होंने मुझसे कुछ सवाल पूछे।
3. He died many a few months ago.
   कई महीने पहले उनका निधन हो गया।
4. A few students secured more than 75% in examinations.
   कुछ छात्रों ने परीक्षाओं में 75% से अधिक अंक प्राप्त किए।

THE FEW

• The few means “Not many but all there are” 
  Few अर्थात “बहुत सारे नहीं लेकिन थोड़ा बहुत।”

Examples

1. The few utensils she had, were taken by the thief.
   उसके पास जो कुछ बर्तन थे, उसे चोर ले गया।
2. The few clothes he had, all burnt in fire.
   उसके पास जो कुछ कपड़े थे, वे सब आग में जल गए।
3. The few members of the committee all took part in the demonstration.
   समिति के कुछ सदस्यों ने प्रदर्शन में भाग लिया।
4. The few books he had, were taken by the thief.
   उसके पास कुछ किताबें चोर ने ले लीं।

5. Use of little/ A little/ The little

LITTLE

• Little is used along with countable. Little indicates a very small or negligible quantity.
  Little का प्रयोग काउंटेबल के लिए किया जाता है। Little थोड़ा बहुत छोटी या नगण्य मात्रा को बताता है।

Examples

1. He takes little interest in the parental business.
   वह माता-पिता के कारोबार में बहुत कम दिलचस्पी लेता है। “he has hardly any or no interest”
2. We have little hope of his recovery.
   हमें उसके ठीक होने की बहुत कम उम्मीद है।
3. He has little knowledge of computers.
   उसे कंप्यूटर का बहुत कम ज्ञान है।

A LITTLE

• A little indicates a small quantity of something but “not many”.  ( थोड़ा सा)

Examples

1. We have a little hope for his recovery.
   हमें उसके ठीक होने की थोड़ी उम्मीद है।
2. A little knowledge is always dangerous.
   थोड़ा सा ज्ञान हमेशा खतरनाक होता है।
3. He takes a little interest in parental buisiness.
   वह माता-पिता के व्यवसाय में थोड़ी रुचि लेता है।

THE LITTLE

• The Little means “Not many but all there is” 
  Little अर्थात “बहुत ज्यादा नहीं लेकिन थोड़ा बहुत।”

Examples

1. The little money she had, was also spent on medicines.
   उसके पास जो थोड़ा पैसा था, वह भी दवाओं पर खर्च हो गया।
2. Use the little time you have in a proper way now.
   आपके पास जो कम समय है उसका सही तरीके से उपयोग करें।
3. He has wasted the little money he had in gambling.
   उसके पास जो थोड़ा सा पैसा था उसे उसने जुए में बर्बाद कर दिया है।
